Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in Margate, Hobart, TAS
We (Wendy and Imogen) are both teachers with an 19 y.o. son and 23 y.o daughter who is away at university. We also have a young cat with a rather zany personality. We enjoy travel, especially to places with opportunities for outdoor activities and photography and love to spend our January holiday exploring new places. We will take very good care of your house as we do our own.
It's just $65 for the year, and you could save thousands! Start swapping today.
Our house is a modern colourbond design with extensive north facing windows on one acre. It has beautiful timber floors with large open plan living areas. The kitchen looks over the dining and main living area to Mt Wellington on one side the D'Entrecasteaux Channel on the other. The main bedroom is at one end of the house with ensuite. At the other end are two smaller bedrooms and the main bathroom with spa. Downstairs is a larger fourth bedroom. Wireless internet is available and there are bikes to use as well. Our house is a 15 min walk into Margate and an easy 20 min drive to Hobart. This is a great base to explore all that Southern Tasmania has to offer.

Our home is set on one acre in a small rural subdivision, looking out to Mt. Wellington and the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. It is located in a small town which is quickly becoming a rural suburb of Hobart.
Kingston is 10 minutes away with supermarkets, cafes, banks and a variety of other shops. Hobart is 20 minutes with everything that this beautiful harbour city has to offer.
Just down the road is a little fruit and vegetable store selling wonderful fresh and organic produce. It is owned by the people whose farmland our subdivision has been developed on.
Hobart has a great variety of restaurants, cafes, markets and galleries. You can visit Salamanca Market on a Saturday and wander around the stalls set in front of the historic waterfront buildings.
The museum that the art world is talking about (MONA) is a lovely ferry ride away from the city centre, as is Peppermint Bay in the other direction. Port Historic Site is about an hour and half drive and is well worth a visit. Stop in to see the Devil Park on your way or take a small detour to Richmond Village. The area south of Margate consists of the beautiful Huon Valley with Tahune Airwalk, Bruny Island, and many little towns.
There are extensive opportunities for bushwalking and photography and some very scenic drives. If you are visiting during January, you might like to attend the Cygnet Folk Festival or the Taste of Tasmania.
