Profile: Family-of-4 - Completed House Swaps: 4
We are a family of 4 who are keen to see more of our beautiful country. I am a solicitor and my husband is an IT engineer. We have 2 children - 7 and 4 who like activities like colouring in, cooking, craft and love to travel to new places. We love where we live and would take even better care of your home that we take of our own. Our children have been taught to take care of their possessions and home and would be equally respectful in your home. We are interested in seeing more of Australia
Type: House, Bathrooms: 3, Bedrooms: 4, Sleeps: 7
About our House: We live in the beautiful Samford Valley, just 25 kms from Brisbane CBD. Our home is on 4 acres, positioned on a ridge with breathtaking mountain views and sheltered by 3 enormous old fig trees. The house is an American barn style, cedar clad home with wide verandahs on ground level. The house is huge and is somewhat like a French farmhouse inside, with stone floors, wooden furniture and cathedral ceilings with exposed beams upstairs. Downstairs there are 2 single bedrooms (with their own bathroom) and one large bedroom/rumpus with QS bed (with its own large shower ensuite). The kitchen, dining and lounge are all downstairs. Upstairs is the master bedroom with an adjoining bathroom and a huge adjoining lounge area that opens to an upstairs verandah to take in the mountain views. The upstairs lounge area also has a double pull out sofa bed. Please note there is no longer a pool table upstairs as it belonged to the previous owners. The photo does give you a great indication of the upstairs style of the home though. The upstairs bathroom is not new but is clean and tidy and serves us very well for everyday use. On the third level is an attic with a home gym, including treadmill, exercise bike, weights and punching bag. The pool area is fabulous and previously won an award for the best residential pool in Qld. The adjoining pool pavilion is nestled under the fig trees and is equipped with a BBQ and walled with glass balustrading that looks out to 180 degree views of the mountains and valley. The house is fully air conditioned (reverse cycle for heating as needed) although we find that it is rarely necessary because of the thermal capacity of the stone floors. There is a double lock up garage with covered verandah access to the house from the garage.
The Samford Valley is just a 30 minute drive from Brisbane's CBD but is a little world of its own. Samford Village is like a cosmopolitan country town, with a fabulous pub (including huge kids play area adjoining the outdoor dining area), cafes and restaurants, IGA supermarket and local tennis courts. Samford is at the base of Mount Glorious - a half drive from the village to the top of the mountain will take you to rainforest walking tracks, a mountain village and cafes with breathtaking views and great food.
It is a 50 minute drive from our front gate to Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast and an easy 30 minute drive to the Brisbane CBD and Southbank area where the Gallery of Modern Art, Performing Arts Centre and State Library are all located. It is just 20 minutes to the bayside suburbs of Sandgate and Shorncliffe - Brisbane's Bayside with lovely walking paths and cafes.
Come and enjoy the views and relax by the pool or mix it up with sightseeing in and around beautiful Brisbane.
We have six chickens who will give you your daily supply of fresh eggs. Their feed and water is fully automated but they love to be fed scraps. All you need to do is to check their feed every 5 days or so and enjoy the eggs!
