Profile: Couple-Retired
Hi, we are a retired couple aged 65. We have a small dog(a Tenterfield which is a mini foxie, short haired). Basically we can travel when we wish but would not be keen on the colder climates during winter. We resided in Canberra for over 30 years before we decided to vacate the children and thaw out. Now we live in a semi-rural location (which is very quiet except for the birds) , 7kms from the bustling village/town of Cooroy. It is about a 20-25min drive to Noosa.
Jim plays golf at the Noosa/Tewantin golfcourse and messes around on the rideon mower (which is not allowed to be patronised by other than Jim!). Keryn messes around on the computer, knits, reads and should go back to Yoga.
We have two adult sons living in Canberra hence our choice of Canberra for an ideal house exchange (they live on the southside of Canberra). Our ideal house swap would be either Canberra (preferably not during winter) OR NSW south coast.
We are houseproud and have a miniature fox terrier (the real name is a Tenterfield) who owns us and we would prefer to take us with her. We are very respectful of having our dog on your property and more than happy to lovingly care for your pets.
We are somewhat reluctant to stay in Canberra during the winter months.
We would prefer to negotiate re children.
We are houseproud and would care for your home as we do our own.
Type: House, Bathrooms: 2, Bedrooms: 4, Sleeps: 6
About our House: A hardiplank construction, similar to a Queenslander style. Internal stairs from the under house garage. If you wish to avoid using the internal stairs, you can come in via the front door which has 4-6 steps. There is also a large steel garage for car parking adjacent to the front of the house (parking for a boat or caravan). Downstairs has one bedroom and laundry. Upstairs, main living area consisting of main bedroom with ensuite/dressing room, second bedroom, office/computer room (wi-fi modem internet), main bathroom and separate toilet. All 3 bedrooms have QS beds. Open plan loungeroom, kitchen/family/dining. Large north-east facing deck (morning sun) off the kitchen/family equipped with BBQ and outdoor furniture. Front deck offers afternoon sun. Our furniture is older style (supposedly some is antique!). Two flat screen digital TVs, under 2yrs old. DVD in the loungeroom. Reverse aircon units in all bedrooms and the office/computer room as well as ceiling fans. We only have tank water but never seem to run out. The house is approx 10 yrs old. Timber flooring in the main living areas, carpet in bedrooms. Minimal traffic noise.
There is no lawn mowing required by our house sitters.
There is a basic electronic piano keyboard in the downstairs bedroom.
There is a fenced small dog yard off the downstairs laundry. The only other fencing is a chain link fence between us and one neighbour.
For 'Local' I have defined this as within a 20min drive. Noosa is a well known Australian holiday destination on the Queensland Sunshine Coast. Fantastic climate. Beach and river activities. Numerous top class restaurants and cafes. Art and craft orientated and we have major sporting events (eg Noosa Marathon) during the year. Cooroy is a busy village town with a new public library, IGA supermarket, Drs, dentists, 2 newsagents, 3 bakeries, 2 chemists, butchers, 3 hairdressing salons, dress shops, some Bank branches RSL and bowling club (meals available), cafes, 18hole golf course (Jim plays at the Noosa/Tewantin golf course). There is a hospital in Noosa with a casualty service. The main Sunshine Coast hospital is at Nambour. Well known Eumundi markets are nearby and Eumundi also has a new heated swimming pool (the Olympic standard swimming complex is in Noosa.) Cinema is in Noosa.
