About our House: Weilangta Holiday Home is quality acommodation located in the coastal town of Orford, on the Prosser River on Tasmania's east coast. This 4 bedroom holiday home is fully self-contained and beautifully furnished, sleeping up to 8 persons.
Weilangta Holiday Home features a large kitchen, 2 bathrooms and family room with a fireplace and deck access. The lounge room offers an eight ball table and Nintendo, DVD/Video player with a selection of movies.
Combining privacy with a sea view and peaceful rural feel, Weilangta Holiday Home is the ideal location to base your holiday on Tasmania's beautiful East Coast. From Orford, venture to Port Arthur, Hobart, local wineries, beaches or the majestic Maria Island.
FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK: Within an hours drive of Spring beach is the beautiful Freycinet National Park, which offers the nature lover wide stretches of white sands, rocky headlands, granite peaks and quiet beaches as excellent short or long walks. The 45 minute walk over the Hazards into wine glass bay gives one of the most spectacular sights in the world.
PORT ARTHUR: The infamous Port Arthur penal settlement to the south is also a comfortable day trip. But an early start is warranted as there is so much to see and do. Despite their grim history, the ruins of the settlement are the greatest single tourist attraction in Tasmania. Port Arthur is on the Tasman Peninsula with Eaglehawk Neck, The Bush Mill and The Tasmanian Devil park other attractions of the area. Port Arthur is a 1.5 hours from Orford through the Weilangta State Forrest.
MARIA ISLAND: Is well worth a visit, you can get there by Passenger Ferry from Triabunna which takes 20 minutes. On arrival it seems as if you have stepped into another world. The Island embraces magnificently coloured sandstone cliffs and is a refuge for over eighty species of Birds. Its intriguing history and historic buildings date back to the convict era of 1825 and provide a contrast to the now peaceful surroundings.
WEILANGTA STATE FORREST: Is just a fifteen minute drive for a pleasant nature walk through the rainforest on boardwalk tracks. Take a picnic basket as there are b.b.q. facilities provided. Magnificent views to be taken in of the East Coast.
RICHMOND: Tasmania's oldest and most famous historic village, Richmond has the oldest bridge in Australia and a wealth of mellow old colonial buildings, including Tasmania's oldest jail and two historic Churches. Richmond is a pleasant 30 minute drive.
