We are a retired professional couple, with educational backgrounds.

We have organized three swaps this year and are now looking towards 2014. April 2014 is booked, so we are seeking exchanges for either March 2014 or May onwards.

We have recently gained the qualification (International Certificate of Competence under the CEVNI rules) to pilot and navigate boats on European inland waterways and have spent 6 weeks in 2012 cruising on the Canal du Midi. We are particularly interested in arranging a house/barge swap, but a house swap would also be very acceptable.

About our House: This modern stand-alone town house is in a high position with ocean views and is open to winter sun and summer breezes. There is a covered balcony with barbecue, day bed and outdoor table and chairs. The open-plan kitchen, dining and living areas are spacious, with polished timber floors. The main bedroom has a walk-in robe and ensuite bathroom with a spa bath. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed, while the third has a single bed. There is a large utility room downstairs which houses a study, workshop and two additional single beds.We have a carport and use of the car is negotiable. A computer with internet connection is available. We also can provide bicycles and kayaks. The private garden is landscaped and easy to maintain.

We are situated in Byron Bay Shire, so all the attractions of Byron are within easy reach (15-20 minute drive). There are kilometres of unspoilt beaches, plus rainforest and coastal walks to enjoy, as well as the beautiful Brunswick River which is ideal for kayaking, swimming and fishing. The area offers dozens of cafes and restaurants, plus music venues, two cinemas (one art house), and festivals (eg Writers Festival, Easter Blues Festival).
