Profile: Couple
Married couple in our 30s with a delightful 2 and half year old daughter. We are medical / allied health professionals who enjoy a busy and active lifestyle. We are extremely house proud and tend to our home and garden lovingly and will be as equally respectful with your home. I love cooking and have an increasing interest in gardening and my husband is a keen surfer. We are both into yoga and meditation and attend weekly Hatha classes together at the yoga studio at the end of our court. One day we hope to reside permanently at our beautiful, peaceful beach retreat but currently move every 12 months with my husbands surgical training program. We have travelled extensively for personal and professional reasons already within Australia and overseas. We love experiencing new places and people and are so grateful for how these experience enrich our lives. Commencing Jan / Feb 2011 for 11 to 18 months (this is negotiable for the right swap) we are hoping to swap with a Melbourne home / townhouse / apartment, preferably in the south eastern suburbs whilst my husband completes his final year of training at Monash Medical Centre. 2012 we look forward to swapping somewhere in France, New Zealand or Canada for 12-24 months. After that, who knows?! We look forward to seeing what house-swapping can bring!

About our House: We have a refurbished 3 bedroom brick home in one of Jan Juc's quietest locations, a lovely little court where the kids in the street often play together. The house has a fabulous floor plan enhanced by 2 living areas, a central kitchen and a dining that all embrace the north facing backyard. The three bedrooms are all carpeted and have BIRs, with the main bedroom also offering an ensuite and private deck and native garden outlook. The other two bedrooms face onto the internal courtyard that we have just finished with a jasmine creeper, lemon, lime and lilac trees, a tranquil water feature and a hot and cold outdoor shower perfect after returning from a surf / swim or play at one of the many local breaks / beaches. The family bathroom has a good size bath and separate shower and there is a separate toilet and good size laundry with lots of shelving and storage. The large north facing backyard offers heaps for the kids with a newly filled sandpit (with water proof cover to protect from rain and any curious neighbor hood pets!) and recently painted timber cubby. We have two neat herb / vegie gardens and were particularly proud of our bumper potato crop this year! There is a lovely outdoor table and chairs that seats 8 and both a Weber Q and a Charcoal Weber (yes, we like to dine outside) all of which are beautifully protected from the sun under massive sails coming off the rear of the house. The formal living area has a sensational firebox, gorgeous for cozying up in front of in winter and a built in projector, speakers and remote controlled screen for the movie buffs. The informal living area is fully visible from the kitchen and dining area and offers a study nook (we have reliable Telstra wireless internet), a 50 inch Pioneer Plasma T.V with DVD, stereo, X-box and surround sound speakers. The split system unit in the casual living area keeps the back part of the house warm in winter and cool in summer. We have oil heaters and fans available in each of the bedrooms and electric blankets on the master bedrooms queen size bed. All the windows in our home open to let in the sweet smelling sea breeze but have screens to keep out the insects, as do the sliding doors linking the two living areas to the backyard. There is a double remote controlled garage with built in shelving, a second full size fridge and a surf rack for boards. There is also off street parking for 2-3 cars. The house is incredibly light and bright and the garden lush and green affording our home a lovely feeling of peace and warmth. You will love it.
Our home is in a peaceful little court beautifully positioned between the beach (5 minutes walk) and a fabulous childrens park, oval, tennis courts and club and well respected kindergarten (2 minutes walk). At the end of our court is a gorgeous yoga studio / sanctuary that offers classes and meditation retreats. Some of Victorias best surf breaks including Boobs, Steps, Winkie Pop and Jan Juc Main Beach are an easy 5 minute run in a wettie with no shoes and a board under your arm. Infamous Bells Beach is a 5 minute scenic drive away. Jan Jucs shopping strip with an awesome caf, great family friendly pub, delicious restaurant / bar, a handy general store, large medical centre, alternative medicine clinic and take away food shop are an easy 10 minute walk. The coastal town of Torquay with its many cafes, restaurants, shops, a library, swimming pool, community health centres, primary and high schools and beaches is a 3 minute drive away. Geelong, the largest regional centre in Victoria, is 20 minutes by car with its beautiful waterfront, public and private hospitals, universities, schools, shopping centres, cafes, restaurants, etc. Jan Juc is at the gateway to the Great Ocean Road and quant little towns such as Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Lorne and Apollo Bay are all within an hours drive. So too are the numerous wineries, coves, rivers, camping and hiking spots that make this part of the world so memorable. It has something to appeal to all ages and really is a magic place to live.
