Profile: Couple
I am just retired and have moved permanently into this home which has been my second home for 10 years. I have worked in education all my life, first as a secondary school teacher mostly in New Zealand but also in Canada, and then in a tertiary education institution for many years. I travelled a lot when younger and have tried to continue travelling as much as possible but work got in the way! In the last few years I have visited Turkey, Bhutan, Vietnam and Cambodia and last year I spent 5 months in Croatia. I am so looking forward to exploring more of Europe in particular.
My two daughters are adults and both have children whom I adore. My eldest daughter teaches in outback Australia and the younger one in Auckland city.
I am hoping to invite NZ friends to join me when I am settled in Europe!
Type: Duplex, Bathrooms: 2, Bedrooms: 3, Sleeps: 4
About our Duplex: My home has a living and dining area with a magnificent view over water through native bush. Sitting on the deck in the afternoon sun gazing at the view is wonderful and when it is cooler there is a spa pool on the deck to leap into! There are 3 bedrooms, 2 of which are single. The double has a stunning view. Two bedrooms and one bathroom, with bath shower and toilet, are upstairs, the third bedroom, one bathroom (small with shower and toilet) are downstairs as are the living, dining, laundry and kitchen areas.
It is one of two adjoining townhouses and is on a hillside and is very quiet and private but close to shops, picture theatre, library, recreation centre with a pool, and beaches and 45 mins from downtown Auckland. There are stairs on entry and more to bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. Very little upkeep is required as the garden is mostly native bush and not easily accessible as it slopes steeply to the sea.
I am happy to swap cars - mine is a 1996 Ford Laser. I also have 2 cats which will need feeding and lots of cuddles.
The home is on Whangaparaoa peninsula north of Auckland city. It was developed as a seaside area but now has a small mall, movie theatres, a library and other facilities eg a Leisure centre with a gym, pool, circuit room, basketball court etc and very reasonable membership. There are many beaches on the peninsula some quiet and sheltered, others with surf. A golf course is a short drive away.
There is a motorway or a less hectic road into Auckland city but after the rush hour the motorway driving is fine.
2 cats both eight years old, quiet and friendly. They will need feeding and lots of cuddles.
