Profile: Couple-Over-50

We are a mature, non smoking, professional couple who are looking to locate to Sydney for 3 months from July to September as John is a high school teacher and wanting to relief teach during term 3 whilst Christine, who is currently a Business Finance Manager at a Natural Resource Management company is looking to be closer to her daughter for the 12 weeks after the birth of her first child to lend a hand. Our hobbies are gardening, reading and enjoying local theatre. John is a qualified carpenter/joiner so if a maintenance issue should arise he is competent in dealing with the issue. We have Harrison, our cat which we would need someone to care and look after whilst we are away and we are happy to care for your pets in return.

House Details

Type: House,  Bathrooms: 2,  Bedrooms: 4,  Sleeps: 8

About our House: We have a wonderful light and bright home situated on the scarp of the Darling range with views to the city and coast. It is a two storey home which is tastefully decorated. Upstairs is the main living area and has tiled floors. The kitchen is new and has an induction cooktop, a double oven and a convection microwave. There is also a dishwasher, fridge/freezer and large walk in pantry. The lounge room is open plan incorporating the formal dining room. A wood stove for winter warmth is very effective and wood will be left for your use. Doors lead out onto the wide balcony area where views are spectacular. The main spare bedroom is a carpeted queen size bedroom and attached bathroom is also on this floor. The upstairs bathroom has a large corner bath which has a shower overhead. A spiral staircase leads down to the main carpeted kingsize bedroom, and 2 other carpeted bedrooms. One of these rooms is currently used as a study. A laundry with washing machine and modern bathroom with deep bath and glassed shower complete the downstairs. Doors lead off the main bedroom to a paved area which has a water fountain and is a pleasant place to sit, watch and feed the goldfish. Outside has many different areas. We have half an acre of land which is easy care. There is a small veggie patch, the native area, the rose garden, the boardwalk and the tennis court. Lots of different places to sit at the end of the day and unwind. As the sun sets in the west you will hopefully enjoy the beautiful colours of dusk. A large pool is the perfect summer place to cool down but winters in Perth would only invite the brave to jump in. We have a chimney in the garden where it is great to spend winter days snuggled around.

Local Attractions

Darlington is a small village about 10 minutes away from the main train line into Perth, Fremantle and Mandurah. Our home is just two houses away from the Greenmount National Park where there are many walks. You can take anything from a brief walk around the block to a major hike over the hill to the quarry. There is also a heritage walk from the village where we often stroll for 30 minutes to the next village and enjoy a coffee. Food and wine is amazing around Darlington. The Swan Valley Wine Region is on our doorstep and the wineries are open for tasting and good food. Darlington also has its own exceptional winery. Mundaring is just a few kilometers away and this is where the famous French chef Alain Fabregues has his renowned restaurant The Loose Box. The local attractions of Perth area are varied. No-one could visit Perth without visiting Kings Park which overlooks the whole area. Fremantle of course is the home of the Americas Cup and has much pioneer history. Rottnest Island is a short ferry trip and has holiday accomodation for that weekend break and enjoy seeing the quokkas. The beaches of Perth are superb and very inviting. Away from the suburbs Margaret River is famous for its surf and marvelous wine regions. Mandurah is just an hour away and the home of the Blue Manna Crab.
