Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in Townsville, Magnetic Island, QLD
We live in Townsville and have a holiday unit we rent out on Airbnb at Tropical Magnetic Island (Arcadia). We are happy to swap our house and unit together as part of the package. We are interested in traveling to Tasmania and potentially other regions. We are a family of 4, Matt, Emma, Thomas (11) and Maggie (6). We are homeschoolers so we can be flexible with dates, however we do run a swim school so we need to mostly travel during school holidays.

Our airbnb holiday unit a fully air conditioned, two bedroom unit with an open kitchen making this the perfect accommodation choice for the family or couple. Take advantage of the large shaded pool and shaded BBQ area, as well as your private balcony overlooking the garden. Well furnished and decorated with local scenery images this unit shows how much the we love the island. Only 5 minutes walk to Alma Bay (400m), Arcadia Magnetic Island. We brought this unit because we love the location and our favourite complex! Please note we have stairs to the unit, aprox 17 stairs in total.
Within a short walking distance from your door you can enjoy the shaded parkland and swimming beach at Alma Bay, have a drink at the Island Tavern, check out the toad races at the pup Wednesday nights, visit the Island Markets at the RSL grounds only metres away (markets on every Friday night), feed the rock wallabies, or perhaps throw a fishing line in at the old barge site.
It's the most perfect location on the island for families and couples and affordable for a great getaway.
Entertainment and fun for the whole family
We have plenty of board and card games at the unit for the whole family to enjoy. Also some paper, pencils for the kids to draw.
Plus some adult and kids books.
There is also some DVDs for the TV/DVD player if you get a rain day.
Secret Access to close beach and waterfall.
We have drawn a map in the visitor guidebook to show the secret short cut to walk to Geoffrey Bay, its much quicker to head down the back of Appian Way, over a little hill on the dirt track. Check the house book when you arrive.
The map in the photos of our unit has details of sceret water fall. Basically when we get good rain go straight up Endeavour Road and 100m up the walking road track on the left there is waterfalls and rock pools for swimming and cooling off.

So much more to s
Magnetic Island is well known for its distinctive environment and picturesque landscape featuring large granite boulders, hoop pines, sandy beaches and fringing coral reefs. The story of Magnetic Island began 275 million years ago when molten granite was pushed to the earth's surface with volcanic force. Over time the overlying volcanic rocks weathered away. The underlying granite mass has decomposed along fracture lines, creating today's extraordinary landscape of rounded domes and boulders (tors), many of which are larger than a house and spectacularly perched. Fault lines have eroded to form gullies and valleys. Today, a shallow sea separates the island from the mainland. However, before the sea level rose 7,500 years ago, Magnetic Island was connected to the mainland between Cape Pallarenda and Kissing Point.
