We're Elena and Tim, a professional couple who work remotely - hence our ability to house swap across Australia. We have recently completed a renovation of 'Frontera House' with a strong focus on using repurposed and sustainable materials. We are both passionate about conservation and living a low impact lifestyle - growing our own food, composting and minimising waste are a big part of our lifestyle. Tim is a passionate surfer and would certainly suit locations where the chance to surf is available. Elena loves cooking and beautiful produce so would benefit from areas where good food and cafes are available. We don't have children but have a 10 year old miniature dachshund called Frankie who we love dearly. Pets are welcome in our home and we may seek a short swap to a far destination where we need to explore having Frankie minded. In most occasions we would like to take Frankie with us. We are open to homes and apartments in regions, coastal towns and cities. So long as we have reliable internet and mobile reception we're open to ideas and opportunities (bringing Frankie may also be important for some swaps). Tim works in ocean conservation (he co-founded and ran the successful ocean charity 'Take 3 for the Sea' for 10 years and now has a new project Ocean Impact Organisation). Elena works in marketing, events and communications and will sometimes need to travel to Sydney for work. We're new to house swapping but very experienced travelers and adventurers. We've also been using housesitters recently to mind Frankie when we travel for work - everyone who has lived in the house to date has really loved it! We've created a lovely home and think you will find it a genuinely nourishing experience. We look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to 'Frontera House', our newly renovated home in the Northern Rivers NSW in a peaceful suburb called Bilambil Heights.
Whilst our home is nestled into the quiet hills, we're only 15 minutes drive to the Gold Coast Airport and the bustling coastal strip of Coolangatta and the southern Gold Coast. We're located in a central zone meaning the towns and villages of Murwillumbah, Currumbin, Kingscliff, Cabarita, Burleigh Heads and Casuarina are all within a 25 minute drive. Byron Bay is approx. 50 mins drive south.
Whether it's a tree change or a sea change, we're sure you'll find our carefully renovated home a great place for a holiday or a longer stay. With 4 generous bedrooms and a large open plan living/ kitchen there is plenty of room to spread out. With ocean views and a perfect sea breeze that sweeps through the house you'll find the climate here impeccable.
We have a large (unfenced) garden and pets are welcome. A glimpse into the yard at any time of day may spot kangaroos and wallabies, lots of bird life and the resident cows in the farmland adjacent to the property. Down the street you'll find 'Ella's Farm', a wonderful permaculture farm that runs short and long courses and offers volunteering on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
We're a professional couple with a passion for travel and adventure. We have the privilege of working remotely, meaning we can work from anywhere with stable internet and mobile connection. We're excited to see more of Australia whilst we have this great opportunity to house swap.

We had the pleasure to stay at Frontera House during this last 2023 New Year’s week. The pictures on this site do not make justice of the beautifully decorated and located house this is. We arrived, after a drive from Sydney, to an immaculately cleaned house. Elena and Tim very nicely left us a welcoming pack. The two bathrooms have been decorated in a lovely modern, boho chic style. The house was engulfed in a sweet Occitante essence. There was a functioning real record player and they have the most amazing record collection!! Which was fascinating for our 12 and 14 year old daughter to see. I had a bath in the bathtub overlooking the back prairie at sunset, just beautiful and the house is at the end of a road which makes it particularly quiet. We were also super happy to see few kangaroos and wallabies on the backyard. It was easy to drive to nearby Coolangatta beach, which is a great early in the morning and our preferred, Salt at Kingscliff. We also easily drove to Byron Bay’s hinterland, eat in Federal and visited nearby Gold Coast and Byron Bay itself. On midnight on NYE, we could see both fireworks, on the NSW and QLD side an hour later, all under an incredible electrical storm! All in all it was a fantastic week for the four of us, spent in a fantastic house that felt like home as soon as we arrived. When we got back home, as we swapped houses during the same time, we found our house immaculate, all towels and sheets were washed, everything was tidy and Elena and Tim left us a bottle of champagne in the fridge to welcome us, such a lovely gesture! Thanks Elena and Tim for making this first swap experience a remarkable one, communicating with you throughout the stay was easy and we are keen to repeat this experience thanks to your generosity and attention to detail.
