House Swap with us

Hello fellow House Swappers! My name is Tanya and I am originally from London, UK. My husband is Richard from South Africa. We have lived in beautiful Australia 20+ years with stints of overseas living including New Zealand, California and United Kingdom. We are a family of 5 adults and 2 gorgeous spoodle doggies called Benny & Honey. Our eldest 2 children ages 21 & 19 are studying at Wollongong University. Our youngest is leaving for Newcastle uni at the end of this year. The house swap would be with my husband and I and our 2 doggies, and possible one of our adult teenagers if they decide to spend a bit of time with us whilst studying. We would like to spend more time with our children during their study. We love surfing, bush walking, snowboarding, camping, and exploring new areas in both Australia and Overseas. We all love the outdoors and the opportunity to experience new places and culture. We have very flexible work arrangements. We would like to house swap to explore the Illawarra region and the Newcastle and Central NSW coast regions, whilst our kids are at University there. Being home owners ourselves, we are house proud people and will look after your home as if it were our own. Our 2 doggies are a HUGE part of the family and are travelling with us and are looking for a house swap too! They are the easiest dogs to have in a home, make no mess, shed no hair and fully house trained. We live in a lovely spacious home with a big garden and pool in a stunning part of the world in SE Queensland near Coolangatta. We are a short drive one way to the world renowned snapper rocks surf break and a short drive the other way into the start of some deep rain lush forests and stunning hinterland and of course we have the beautiful mountains, all in one spot. We would love to house swap from our home to yours and pets are welcome. If you are keen, I would love to hear from you. Best wishes, Tanya & Richard (and our gorgeous doggies Benny & Honey)

The Location

The Location

Where we live - The Southern Gold Coast is made up of eight iconic beach and inland communities to explore. From the southern tip of Rainbow Bay and Coolangatta up to Currumbin and out through the Currumbin Valley, each village has its own unique culture and charm. The southern Gold Coast area is a beautiful place for tourists and locals alike and brings the golden beaches and the lush, green hinterland together. This area offers the benefits of urban facilities with great surfing on your doorstep and native bushland at your back door with plenty of shopping, dinning and entertainment to keep you constantly on your sandy toes.

Resting on the NSW border, the Southern Gold Coast encompasses the village townships of Coolangatta, Currumbin, Palm Beach, Kirra, Bilinga and Tweed. Enjoy the laidback lifestyle that really showcases what the Gold Coast is all about.

The beaches in this area are known to locals and even international surfers for their clear waters and great breaks. Rainbow Bay, Snapper Rocks and Duranbah Beach (that's D'bah to the locals) are all world-class surf breaks which is probably why they see the most action. All the beaches along the southern Gold Coast are perfect for swimming, playing in the sand or even just laying back and soaking up the sun with family favourites including Greenmount and Palm Beach. Keen to learn to surf? Book a 2 hour surfing lesson at Kirra Beach.

Point Danger sits high on a peak overlooking Duranbah Beach in Bilinga and gives viewers the chance to see dolphins out at sea while planting one foot in QLD and the other in NSW. Visit the Centaur Memorial which remembers the sinking of the Aussie hospital ship, Centaur, by Japanese submarines during World War 2. Take The Walk of Remembrance to remember other ships lost to German and Japanese action during the war.

The Currumbin Rock Pools are a bit of a local secret (shhh!) and are located about 15 minutes from the beach. The pools are the perfect spot for a relaxing day out while you picnic, swing from the rope swings and lounge about on the rocks, all while enjoying the refreshing waters of the rock pools. Other great spots include Currumbin Creek and The Alley which are known their calm waters which are ideal for stand up paddle boarding and kayaking.

Down the southern end of the Gold Coast you can walk down Kirra Beach, don your scuba tanks and swim out a few hundred metres to the kelp covered rocky outcrops. Palm Beach Reef Dive Site is another top spot and is home to stingrays, Wobbegongs, parrot fish and a selection of sharks.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has long been a favourite destination for visitors and locals. Cuddle a koala, walk with dingos, take a Segway Safari or test your mettle on the Tree Top Challenge, there's so much to see and do! You can book tickets for the following:

General admission at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Tree Top Challenge at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Segway Safari Experience at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Taking off from the Gold Coast Airport, Gold Coast Skydive is the only tandem skydive operation on the Gold Coast. Leap out of the plane and enjoy a proper bird’s eye view of the coast before softly landing on Kirra Beach.

Superbee Honeyworld in Currumbin takes visitors on a wonderous adventure into the life of bees. Watch as professional beekeepers take you from flower to bee to honey and then taste test their wares.

Our family and I love where we live and we feel sure that you will too! We'd love you to experience what we do, every single day.

We had the pleasure of staying in Tanya and Richard's beautiful home in the gorgeous suburb of Elanora for 10 days over Christmas 2023. It was our first house swap experience and would recommend. We had a wonderful holiday that included our 2 dogs. It is a spacious home with stunning landscaped gardens and swimming pool - which we made great use of. Their home is clean, tidy and has everything you need to have a wonderful holiday in a home from home. We loved the location - a short drive to great off leash dog beaches, the gorgeous Burleigh Heads. Good shopping options on cooler days and Byron Bay etc is within the hour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could easily have stayed longer!. Throughout, Tanya and Richard were a pleasure to deal with - responsive, friendly and easy going. We highly recommend their place place for a swap. I am sure we will remain in touch and hopefully will do another swap. Thank you so much Tanya and Richard. Michele and David Lewis (Christmas 2023)

We stayed at Tanya’s house in Elanora which is just in from beautiful Currumbin and Palm beach. It is set in a quiet neighbourhood with shops just down the hill. The home was very family and pet friendly and we enjoyed our time there. Our kids particularly enjoyed their lovely swimming pool. Thank you Tanya and Richard for sharing your lovely home.
