We are a couple who are 'test driving retirement' after long careers in teaching and nursing. We have family in Australia and New Zealand and are keen to keep visiting down under at least once a year.

Our home is a light and spacious ground floor Victorian flat just 150m walk from the sea. In fact you can see the sea from the front room. It is light and spacious with a paved area at the front of the flat to relax outdoors and a shared garden at the back of the property.
There are two good-sized bedrooms and a beautifully converted cellar that can be used for extra sleeping space. The picture shows when one of our daughters and her family came to stay and loved the cosiness of the space. There is a second smart TV, fridge, digital piano and PS4 to add to the enjoyment.
The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. There is a dishwasher and washing machine as well as a gas hob, electric oven, air fryer, microwave and plenty of cutlery, crockery and pots and pans.
The flat also benefits from gas-fired central heating. There is also an open fireplace in the front room that adds that extra glow in the winter. There is also a large screen smart HD TV.
The second bedroom has a sofa bed, which we would be happy to leave made up into an incredibly comfortable double bed.

Littlehampton is a small town which has so much to offer.
There are several great cafes and restaurants within walking distance. These range from a 'greasy spoon' cafe around the corner, with superb breakfasts - to the East Beach Cafe Restaurant just across the beach green. This offers a more high end dining experience in a unique building. (See the picture in the house photos.)
Another cafe - The Beach - just ten minutes walk away has great food and coffee, but also offers kayak, paddle boarding, wind surfing and kite surfing as well as Pilates and yoga lessons. It's one of the places that we visit most often. Opposite the Beach Cafe are two skate parks.
There is also a newly built heated swimming pool (with learner's pool also) and gym just 10 minutes walk from the flat. It also has children's activities during the holidays and such facilities as badminton courts.
There are several tennis courts nearby - one just five minutes from the flat. Also within easy walking distance are crazy golf, a children's funfair with rides, including dodgem cars! There are boating lakes and also the mouth of the River Arun is ten minutes walk away. Here children (and parents alike) can enjoy crabbing and fishing. There is a children's play park just across the road on the beach green (2 minutes from the flat) and another in Mewsbrook park - 15 minutes walk away. There is also a 9-hole pitch and putt course close by.
Brighton, Chichester (with its famous Festival Theatre), Arundel and Portsmouth, complete with its Royal Naval Dockard are within easy driving distances. The Isle of Wight can also be reached by ferry from Portsmouth.
London is just over an hour and half away by train. (The station is 15 mins walk from the flat.) It takes a similar time to drive there.
Gatwick Airport is a 45 minute drive away - or a simple train journey. This would be a great departure point for exploring Europe, if you wanted to do this.

I had a wonderful house swap experience with Bruce and Sandy. Their flat was very comfortable and well located. They too had some lovely neighbours whose company I enjoyed. My house, garden and car were well looked after, and I came home to a spotless house with food in the fridge. Littlehampton has alot to offer. It is a direct train journey to Gatwick Airport and London Victoria. There are many beautiful towns nearby to explore, and the South Downs are particularly beautiful. Plus, with the use of the car and the excellent train service, exploring the rest of the UK is easy. Thank you Bruce and Sandy!
