House Swap with us

Tim and Fiona love travelling and exploring Australia. We have a great home and happy to have people come and enjoy it. Perth has so much to offer and we love living here. Fiona is a primary school teacher and Tim is an architect. Our 3 kids are 19, 17 and 15 years old and we all enjoy travelling, often getting away in the school holidays.

The House

The House

Modern design 2 storey house on a corner block. The house sits at the top of a hill overlooking a valley full of houses, heavily camouflaged by a canopy of mature trees. Views over the valley are stunning and we have a roof deck to enjoy a drink or early dinner taking in the views of the neighbourhood. The house is cool in summer and warm in winter, with air con as a back up. All 4 bedrooms are upstairs and very generous in size with Queen size beds in 3 of the rooms and a King Single with trundle in the other room. The grassed back yard has an in-ground trampoline and an alfresco sitting area. A comfortable lounge area is separated from the kitchen/dining area by a sliding door, providing good acoustic separation when needed. We have a 5 year old dog, that sometimes comes on holidays with us or stays with a dog-sitter while we are away, depending on where we are going. Around the side are some chooks that welcome your kitchen scraps and provide fresh eggs if they are in the right mood.

As first time swappers, we were somewhat nervous about the process & how to balance how keen we were to participate with a sense of trepidation having virtual strangers in our house. We spoke a couple of times after making the dates & locations match - we felt it was important to meet in person so we made that happen. Tim & fiona couldnt have been more down to earth & genuine. We have kids the same age rages & this lead to having similar structure in how we run our households. We spent a little bit of time talking & getting to know each other. We found many points of common approaches to life & interests. While our houses & locations could not be more different - but we found many quirky similarities about how we go about our days. Giving a family who live in the city a chance to spread out in a large country house close to nature & beautiful beaches - a country feel - was reall attractive to them Giving a country family a chance to live in a suburban oasis of convenience & proximity to the best of Perth was a complete joy for us. Tim & Fiona have a beautiful home & they made us feel so welcome. Their home-guide was provided with a lot of thought & attention to detail. We felt immediately on holiday - with a mixture of family comfort alongside a 5 star hotel feeling. We agreed easily on a range of comforts & conveniences. * How the respective BBQs worked * Where the best places to eat & drink were * How to manage the bed linen changes & make our entry & departure hassle free * How to look after their lovely chickens * Where the best view in the neighbourhood was (the amazing rooftop deck) Tim & Fiona left our home spotless. We agree to help ourselves to each other's pantries, freezers & fridges. We each left a small gift. Our family felt so lucky to have met them. We are making plans for an annual swap if it works. Thank you to Tim, Fiona & family for being so respectful & gracious. We hope you enjoy many swaps in the future. Brad, Ange & family
