We are a modern family of five, with two kids under five and a teenager, so a bit of a mix of interests. Tom and Tess and both public servants in our early forties, and we are responsible, respectful, friendly, family oriented people. We have a dog, chickens, a big garden with veggies and like to get out and about on our bikes.

Mid-century modern 4 bedroom home architecturally renovated in 2021, with large open plan kitchen and family room opening on to large separate lounge dining room on the north side of the house. The ground floor includes a study, two kids rooms (bedrooms 2 and 3) one with a single loft bed and the other with two single beds and a trundle, family bathroom (with bath and shower) and one master suite (bedroom 1 with a double bed with seperate ensuite). Above the garage is the parents retreat (bedroom 4) with queen bed, walk in robe and large ensuite with bath, shower and toilet.

Hawker is a pretty safe and easy suburb, with great little shops, cafes, takeaway, restaurants and a petrol station just around the corner. The Pinnacle Nature Reserve is just down the road with fantastic views over Canberra and the Brindabella ranges if you like to bushwalk (just a short hike that’s easy for most). Not far from us is Stromlo Forest Park with purpose built mountain bike trails and loops.

We really enjoyed staying at Tess’s place in Canberra. It was a fantastic house, with so much space, and a lovely outdoor area (the chickens were a bonus!). It was easy to get anywhere in Canberra within 15-30 mins from here, with some local shops just around the corner. Tess was really easy to communicate with and relaxed about arrangements for swap and I highly recommended contacting her if you plan to be in Canberra.
