We are Marshall and Clare Garrett both are active retirees in our late 70s wanting to do some more travel. We have an interest in Burleigh Heads Queensland as we have friends living there. we are non-smokers. And have lived in Nelson for the last three years. We have grandchildren living here. It’s a wonderful place to live. People are very friendly and outgoing and there’s a lot to do or to just relax. we are new to Aussie house swap. We have done a swap on another site it worked very well for everyone.

The House

Our house is modern four years old, double glazed comfortable living. We have a large smart TV Sky & Netflix. A heat pump heats the whole house. There is a dishwasher, a dryer and plenty of hot water. There is a drive-in garage. You will have the use of a new electric bike . Our home is in a quiet cul-de-sac which leads on to a reserve suitable for light tramping, where there is plenty of native birdlife.

The things we love about living here

Nelson, is a very friendly and easy place to live , Our home is 10 minutes from the City centre, which comprises a good selection of shops and supermarkets., There is Coffee, and eating places to suit all tastes , art galleries, library, picture theatre and a marketplace on Saturday morning which is really worth going to. We also have a harbour and some lovely walks around Rocks Road on the edge of the harbour. Of course if you want to venture further we have lovely beaches, The Abel Tasman National Park for tramping, and Vineyards/restaurants, We are approximately three hours from Kaikoura where you can go whale watching , Three hours from Maruia Hot Springs with overnight accommodation. Around Nelson there amazing cycleways and walking tracks.
The famous Able Tasman National Park, the beginning of which is approximately an hour and a half from Nelson.
Cape Reinga and Ninety Mile Beach Trip with Lunch .
Starts from Collingwood by bus takes a full day amazing worth every penny.You stay overnight in Collingwood trip starts early the next morning.
