We are Gary and Vicky Howie. I am a primary school teacher and my husband is an environmental officer working at a wastewater treatment plant. We are non-smoking, non-drinking home bodies. I enjoy gardening and art and my husband is a jogger who enjoys all things to do with cars in general. We have 2 adult children who have left the nest and a very boring cat that we can get pet sitted if necessary. We would like to travel to Canada as my husband grew up in Sooke, BC on Vancouver Island. We also would like to travel over Australia and to New Zealand in the coming years. We have enjoyed 3 highly successful home swaps in Canada and would like to do another. In 2024, we plan to travel to Canada to Vancouver Island around June so if that is a fit with you and you would like to stay in our home, please contact us.

Our house is a rather large low set brick with built in pool, fully ducted air conditioning and heating and no carpet for easy care. We designed and built the house to suit the block and location and we have lived here for just over 20 years. It is a battle axe block, so it is very private and we love it. We describe it as like living on acreage without the maintenance but with all the conveniences of town living.
We are surrounded by bushland with a small lake and an open park out the front, which the council maintain. This provides a lovely view from all living areas.
There is a lovely walking track which takes you on a 7 minute stroll down to the local shops, where you will find a chemist, cinemas, a library, an Aldi supermarket, hairdressers, restaurants and a pub. There is also a local mall just across the main road there, with grocery stores and the usual range of retail shops. Take out stores and lovely restaurants abound.
Other walking tracks follow the bush and we are only a short 10 minute drive from the water. Pt O'Halloran is my favourite spot by the sea, though there is also Thomson's Beach and Redland Bay to explore with lovely beaches and many bay islands (only a short ferry ride away) to visit as well, such as Coochiemudlo Island which provides a lovely day out.
Sirromet winery is only 10 minutes away and we are only an hour South of the famous Gold Coast with theme parks and world-renowned beaches. We are also situated an hour North of Brisbane Central with Southbank and all the hustle and bustle you may desire in our capital city.
We have an indoor spa bath in the bedroom and a massage chair in the living room. Our home is very comfortable, relaxed and convenient.

Cleveland and Capalaba are larger town centres in our shire with more industry and commerce. Redlands = Clean air, relaxed lifestyle and friendly locals.
