House Swap with us

We are semi-retired, with a beautiful home to share and more time on our hands to travel. We have two grown up children with children of their own and sometimes travel with them. Our perfect holiday has lots of outdoor activity, especially hiking. Love city culture too though - galleries, history, learning generally about different ways of life. Countries visited include Italy, Switzerland, Iceland, England, Ireland, Scotland, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Cambodia, Vietnam, France, New Zealand, Japan... We've hiked all over Australia, including a big lap year in a roof top tent. We love sunrise walks and afternoon swims at local Wamberal beach - you will too. We are open to any type of exchange or any destination. Our dream would be to swap our house in the sun for yours near the snow. We'd prefer a minimum of 14 days to make it worthwhile to move out/travel - but 7 days can also work. Also open to longer reciprocal exchanges too as nothing is tying us down.

The Location

The Location

Visit NSW: Famed for its broad golden sand beach, tranquil lagoon and seaside vibe, Terrigal is a popular spot for swimming, surfing and socialising. Stroll the Norfolk Pine-lined esplanade of this Central Coast town and you’ll find buzzing restaurants, cafes, boutiques, ice-cream parlours and rooftop bars.
Terrigal Beach is at the southern end of a long stretch of idyllic golden sand, which curls northwards past Terrigal Lagoon. Follow the coast along scenic walking and cycling paths that loop around Terrigal. You’ll find Wamberal Beach at the northern end and magnificent national parks just a short drive away.
Terrigal’s exposed beach is ideal for surfing. You can learn to surf with the Central Coast Surf School or Central Coast Surf Academy. The pretty rockpool at the southern end of Terrigal Beach is popular with families. Children will love learning about sea creatures at the informative Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre.
Start the day with a coffee overlooking the ocean at one of the trendy cafes or restaurants along the vibrant esplanade strip. Come evening, head to the rooftops at Mumbo Jumbo’s and Rhonda's for cocktails and sunset views or enjoy the atmosphere of a live band at Terrigal Beach House at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal.
Soak up panoramic views from The Skillion lookout, an easy walk southeast from Terrigal Beach to Broken Head. You might even spot humpback whales during their annual migration between May and November. See them up close on a whale watching tour with Terrigal Ocean Tours.
Just off the coast is the Ex-HMAS Adelaide, an old warship scuttled to create an artificial reef. Experienced divers can take a diving tour with Pro Dive. The waters off Terrigal are teeming with fish, perfect for recreational fishing. Join a deep-sea fishing experience with Central Coast Reef and Game Fishing Charter or Terrigal Fishing Tours and you might hook a marlin, tuna or mahi mahi.
Terrigal is a 90-minute drive from both Sydney and Newcastle. You can also catch the train to Gosford and board a connecting bus to Terrigal.

Christine and Nick are warm and friendly people and very easy to negotiate with. After meeting them on their arrival and showing them around our house, I felt very comfortable having them stay. We really enjoyed staying at their home in Terrigal. It’s modern, spacious and relaxing – very private, with a lovely bush vista. Christine and Nick had obviously gone out of their way to prepare for our visit. Everything was clean and tidy, and there was plenty of space available for our belongings. The amenities were first class. It was only a quick drive down to Terrigal Beach and shops, and not far to some of the Central Coast’s other beautiful spots. But just lazing around in a big, comfortable house, was what made the holiday. We would not hesitate in recommending Christine and Nick for a house swap.Their home is lovely and they left our house in Stanmore, exactly as it was when they arrived.
