House Swap with us

We are a very active outdoors & health focused family. We love adventure & are a very easy going family. We love having our space & being in nature on our 120 acre property; but always looking for a new adventure to explore. We love the beach & spend lots of time there - surfing & fishing. We have a 10yr & 6yo who are very active too. We love spending time together & exploring new places. Husband is self employed earthmover & I work from home in insurance & also a life coach. We're looking to have as many opportunities to travel & experience as much of Australia & the world to help expand our kids horizons & give them lots of cool experiences & memories. My husband grew up here & his childhood sounded so amazing here, we moved here when we had our youngest child & it was the best decision.

The House

Our home is a sanctuary on 120 acres nestled in nature & you often feel worlds away out here. Yet we are still only 12 mins from pristine quiet local beaches. We really have the best of both worlds - we are rural - yet coastal, in between coastal village of Brooms Head 12 mins away, local town of Maclean 10 mins away & 25 mins into the tourist town of Yamba.

Inside, you'll find a tidy and comfortable living space featuring a queen bed in the main bedroom, alongside two king single beds in the children’s room.

Theres a large kitchen and living room & separate tv/lounge room. A fireplace for winter. Large wrap around verandah, BBQ & outdoor setting overlooking the pool. So much space for kids to play. We have chickens so you can collect fresh eggs, a large trampoline & monkey bars for the kids to expend their energy and have fun. There is a dam & also approx 100 acres of bush you can walk through.

There is also a separate office & downstairs spare bedroom more like a rumpus area with a queen bed & 2 bathrooms with a bath in the main.

We’re 1 hour drive from smaller airports - Ballina & Coffs Harbour & our nearest major city is Gold Coast which is a 2 hour drive.

We'd love to get in touch if you want to know more.

The things we love about living here

  • 10 mins to quiet town Maclean for all your everyday needs
  • 12 mins to pristine quiet beaches
  • 25 mins to Yamba
  • How much space we have to ourselves. We love living amongst nature. I (Mum) go for a run through our bush most days, there is a motorbike track which our son & my husband ride often as they are both very keen motorcross riders. We love the weather here which means we usually get to swim in our pool more months of the year than not. We love how quiet it is & we can do whatever we want out here. It's a very special place to us - it's our sanctuary. It's very easy to just stay here & not leave for days on end really. We are 25 minutes away from the main tourist town yamba & 10 mins away from the little town of Maclean for all our local needs. Our favourite part is the local beaches to us & the amazing surfing & fishing access we have & we are very lucky they are nowhere near as busy as Yamba - but these beaches are just as special if not better. The people in this local area are also wonderful - very family orientated. If you're looking for a real tree change while also having some beach time - we really have the best of both worlds whilst also escaping the hustle of life.

The Location

The Location

Our home lies between the more coastal villages such as Brooms Head and the inland rural surrounds, along Brooms Head Road.

It’s very much a quiet countryside setting rather than a bustling tourist town — more for nature and a slower pace of life.

Our suburb has rural tranquillity and surrounding nature. Some ideas:
- Driving or cycling along Brooms Head Road and the countryside, taking in farmland, bushland and coastal fringe.

Use it as a base or access point to nearby coastal villages & beaches e.g., Brooms Head, Red Cliff & Sandon beaches.

Spot local wildlife and enjoy the quiet of a low-population rural area.

*Yamba is 25 mins away & is a well known coastal town- situated at the mouth of the Clarence River. Often referred to as a smaller Byron Bay.

The town blends fishing, tourism and relaxed coastal lifestyle.

It has gained stronger recognition as a getaway destination, thanks to its beaches, river access, and laid-back vibe.

Key attractions & things to do:
- Beaches: including famous Angourie Beach, Main Beach, Turners Beach, Pippi Beach — great for swimming, surfing, relaxing.

The Clarence River: activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, river cruises

The coast and headlands: rock pools, coastal walking tracks offer more secluded nature experiences.

Local culture & dining: a growing food scene, local markets, boutique shops.

History and heritage: the Clarence River Light/Yamba lighthouse, and the local museum.

The combination of river + surf + nature makes Yamba versatile for families, couples and nature-lovers.

Its relatively gentle pace compared with more crowded holiday hotspots yet good amenities.

Tips for visiting

If you like water sports (surfing, paddleboarding) there are rental shops.

Whale watching season (May-November) is a good period for seeing migrating whales off the coast.

Visit early morning or late afternoon for great light, fewer crowds.
