We are a retired couple who spend half of each year in Hawaii, and half on the mainland. I am a retired physician and my husband is a retired Naval officer. We have not swapped houses before, but we have lots of experience with house sitters and with short term rentals both in Hawaii and our other house on the mainland.

Single family home on one acre of landscaped grounds, 2800 ft. elevation on the slopes of Mauna Loa with a huge lanai and expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. Weather at this elevation is springlike, with low humidity. Kitchen of course is fully outfitted, except for the lack of a dishwasher. King size beds in both bedrooms, and both bathrooms have tub/shower combos. This is our home half the year. There's no need for air conditioning at this elevation;in fact, bring a sweater for occasional cool evenings.
