I am a very neat, clean & responsible home owner with two sweet Ragdoll cats. My best friend & I live together in a little town called Moore in between Kilcoy and Blackbutt in the Somerset Region of South East Queensland. I am self-employed & so is my bestie. I manage a not for profit Environmental Conservation group called Friends of the Forest Inc. Chris is a natural health practitioner. We are both non-smokers or drinkers & we like to make a small as possible footprint on the Earth, preferring to leave things better than we find them. Happy to chat on the phone and/or Zoom call prior to any house exchange agreement.

The House

Our home is a beautiful Sky Blue Queenslander house bordered by lush native bushland, a creek, tall trees and quiet cattle farmland on one side in our small residential village. This is true country lifestyle with easy access to the D'Aguilar Hwy which links the South Burnett region to the West & the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and Brisbane Region to the East and South all within 1-2hrs drive.

The things we love about living here

Authentic country-style lifestyle.
Not isolated but feels like a million miles away from things.
The starry nights are clear and spectacular.
Birdlife is abundant and native animals such as wallabies and possums are regular visitors.
The house is welcoming and cosy & evenings are peaceful.

The Location

The Somerset Region is a scenic, rural escape located just over an hour northwest of Brisbane. It is famous for its vast freshwater lakes, charming country towns, and the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, Australia's longest recreational rail trail. Lake Somerset is a premier destination for boating, jet-skiing, and wakeboarding. It is also highly regarded for freshwater bass fishing. Lake Wivenhoe offers fantastic opportunities for sailing, canoeing, and swimming. Picnic spots and viewing points are dotted around the dam, Savages Crossing serving as an excellent riverside day-use area.. The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is a 161km track perfect for cycling, hiking, and horse riding along a disused rail corridor that cuts through rural bushland and heritage towns, including Moore & nearby Linville. Art & Culture: The Condensery (Somerset Regional Art Gallery) is a contemporary art space located in Toogoolawah, which rotates forward-thinking exhibitions by living artists. Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery showcases beautiful works by local artisans and painters. Yowie Park located in Kilcoy, features the iconic Yowie statue and provides a great space for family barbecues and picnics. Historic Country Towns include Esk, the central hub of the region, known for the impressive & photogenic Mount Glen Rock, art galleries, antique stores & stunning views from Lakeview Park Lookout. Fernvale is famous for its bakeries, country markets, and as a primary starting point for hot air ballooning (Floating Images Hot Air Balloon Flights).Toogoolawah boasts heritage architecture & the historic Toogoolawah Pictures which has regular movie screenings on a Saturday night. 2 well-stocked IGA's are within a 25 minute drive from Moore as well as other services including medical centres and hospital.
